Stylianos Schicho was born in Vienna in 1977. From 1998 to 2005 he studied painting at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 2017 he received the Strabag Artaward International. The painter is known for large-format paintings in which the figures try to establish an intimacy with the viewer. In the triptych, which comes from a block of works called The Observer, the viewer is looked at directly. The protagonists of the picture seem somehow at the mercy of the observer, enclosed in the picture. The paradoxical contact creates closeness at a simultaneously insurmountable distance. In this way, the artist creates a triangular field of tension that gives the work a strong dynamic all of its own. The three-part work has been in private hands for over 15 years and is fresh from the market. Minimal wear to the edges of the image. Does not disturb the overall impression.
