The ‘Goldwand’ series of works has been in production since 2014 and involves countless work steps on large wooden panels. The decisive factor for these meticulously crafted workpieces is that they are gilded with countless small pieces of gold leaf. With a size of 60 x 60 cm, around 2,500 small leaves measuring 2 × 2 cm are applied. Once the surface is fully gilded, the top layer, the gold, is removed with an extra-fine sanding process. The bolus, the coloured background, is revealed and the gold shines where it has been applied overlapping - i.e. twice The result of this procedure is coloured gold surfaces on which the poliment shines through, and the innumerable flakes alternate between appearing and disappearing.
