The peaceful mountain landscape is a classic motif for him from his successful Viennese period. The painting is constructed in a skilful composition. The foreground divides the picture vertically and severed tree stumps as well as plants bearing yellow blossoms give the impression of wanting to interrupt the composition - they project in the direction of the wide background of this Carinthian mountain landscape. In terms of colour, the painting radiates a pronounced calm, where the earth tones are complemented only by the blue of the sky and the river. The Landesmuseum Niederösterreich owns comparable works by Zetsche.
